Cartoon Reprint Policy

HIT Bottom^TM Reprint Policy

HIT Bottom is available for reprint in newsletters and on web sites free of charge, provided that the use is non-commercial (no fee is charged for the newsletter or access to the web site) and the following requirements are met. Commercial use is subject to a license fee, with exceptions for small nonprofit organizations. Both free use and commercial use require prior permission.

1. You must provide a link to hittransition.com, and it must be a live url link for any electronic use of the cartoon. That is, if you use the cartoon in a Web page, email, pdf document, Flash document, etc., you must include a live link to http://hittransition.com. When you receive permission you will receive an email with directions to the downloadable or linkable files. After you have received permission, you may choose from the following methods to comply with this requirement:

A. Make the image a live link to us, with the image served from YOUR Web site, as in this example code. Choose this method if you must resize the image. (Put the following code all on one line, and change the blue text to the proper path and filename on your server):

B. Make the image a live link to us, with the image served from OUR Web site, as in this example code. Choose this method if you do not need to download and resize the cartoon. (All on one line, and change the blue text to the proper cartoon filename):

You are not permitted to use the cartoon in any electronic form unless you use one of the two preceding link methods. If you include the cartoon in an email, make sure that it is not just included as an attachment, but as an inserted image, using one of the methods above. You may optionally include, if you choose to do so, additional links to us, such as our HIT Bottom Cartoon Archive at http://hittransition.com/archive_HITBottom.htm, within the text of your document, but you must use the link to our main Web site as explained above.

2. You may not alter the cartoon in any way except for sizing; the cartoon's WIDTH MUST BE NO SMALLER than 300 pixels for electronic uses or 3 inches for print uses; you may not alter the aspect ratio (you may resize only by the same vertical and horizontal percentage); and the cartoon's copyright statement and our url must be legible.

3. Your use must be non-commercial. This means that you charge no fee for the publication or access to the web site, and, if the cartoon will be used on a web site, the page is open to web crawlers such as Google and is publicly accessible with no membership, no registration and no login required; any other environment will be considered commercial. 4. Copyright is retained by Healthcare IT Transition Group and no ownership rights shall be construed to be transferred with reprint permission.

5. For FREE NON-COMMERCIAL USE, please use the following procedure: please send email using this link,and include the name of the publication and/or link to the web site, the planned date of publication, the filename of the cartoon image you wish to use. To find the filename of the cartoon, go to this HIT Bottom archive link, right-click the cartoon, and select Save As to see the filename. Sending the request email constitutes your agreement with the requirements on this page.

6. Healthcare IT Transition Group reserves the right at its sole discretion to refuse any request for permission and to revoke any permission granted.
