Results of the NPI Contingency Status Survey
We heard the reports of the Medicare crosswalk failures, the conflicting demands of different payers, the holdups in enrollment updates. We read the stories of small clinics in financial turmoil over stalled payments. Somebody said, "We need to know what's really going on!" Big organizations move slowly, but we realized we were in a position to move very swiftly. So we issued a survey and asked it to be passed along to everyone involved. In this low-cost webinar, we'll present our own analysis of those findings, and make our recommendations to avoiding the worst consequences of an NPI train wreck.
"One of the few people in the industry who can truly be called a leader in thought."
~Michael Apfel, Truman Medical Centers
In addition to a deep understanding of the rules, regulations and standards, Martin Jensen has on-the-ground experience implementing NPI, working with providers, payers and vendors, and has been privately engaged by key players in the industry to advise them and their clients. As a blogger and publisher, he was the first to break the stories about CMS’s execution of a Data Use Agreement that gave Medicare advance access to NPI data, the Department’s release of its long overdue Data Dissemination Policy, and Medicare’s compliance-challenged approach to representing providers who don’t have NPIs. As the May 23 deadline approaches, he’s still not ready to make nice.
Martin Jensen is Chief Analyst and a principal partner at Healthcare IT Transition Group, a consultancy whose clients include healthcare providers large and small, health IT software and service companies, and some of the nation's largest health plans. Recently, Marty has recently been involved in Health IT remediation projects in state Medicaid, vendor and payer organizations. His seventeen years in healthcare IT include work in health plan remediation and provider outreach, engagements with software vendors in product development and systems design, and over fourteen years in business analysis and project management for provider organizations. In 2007 Marty was honored with the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) Distinguished Service Award.
